G33K mobile issues of the year

The year 2025 seemed to be the year of the bike issues. I have a Can Am Spyder with three wheels so it can make life more interesting. From hitting things to needing new parts like a battery.

Some of the damage

Around where the damage was, luckily missing more vital parts

One of the issues I had with my bike was that one night I hit what looked to be a road coloured rock that went under my bike just before I entered the local highway on the Gold Coast. It was late at night and I was getting up to speed when I seen it at the last second. Under the bike it went and came out. I did stop, but decided to get home and sort it out later as I preferred to have issues after I get home. Turns out the rock had damaged right behind the radiator with the bash plate broken as well, making the bike lower when you go up driveways and speed bumps.

I had to get replacements for those and I was without the bike for nearly two weeks as I had taken it to my mechanic to have a look at. I was lucky I had not done more damage as the rock had just missed my brake peddle by inches and the hoses around the radiator as well. Also the housing for the front wheel too so I could have written off my bike instead. I could take the bike back when waiting on the last part, which was part of the bash plate that goes behind the radiator.

At the same time the mechanic also found the coolant bottle in the bike was leaking and was apparently a common issue with Spyders. It splits around the middle and leaks. It took over a month for a new one to come in, which I would guess comes from Canada. It was getting worse, but at least I got that replaced.

I also got a new battery and bike cover just before Christmas as well. I work til late at night in a shopping centre and dont want to get stuck there at night. The bike cover started tearing as I had it for a while and I was lucky to get a new one on the same week as Christmas. Same with sourcing a new battery as the only one to have one in stock was my mechanic in Lismore. The bike was becoming expensive in a matter of months, but at least I should be alright for a little while now.

I have had batteries die when I have been at work late at night, but with shopping centres becoming iffy these days I wouldnt want to leave my vehicle in the carpark over night.
